Dog Heaven at Camp Coeur D’Alene

People who love their dogs LOVE their dogs. As an integral part of the family pack, fur babies can bring so much joy to our lives. Here at Camp Coeur D’Alene, one thing we strive for us to live up to our reputation as the “friendliest dog camping in the country”.

Our forested location beckons the intrepid pup with a host of activities. Hiking is a favorite pastime with options as sedate as an easy stroll along the road past camp or as challenging as the hiking trail to the top of the hill, something not for the faint of heart but the reward is beautiful views of the valley and camp below.

Those set on further explorations can head a mere two miles down the road to the trailhead for Mineral Ridge National Recreation Trail. This popular 2.5-mile loop is some of the prettiest scenery you will find anywhere and leashed pups are welcome.

A short distance away in Coeur D’Alene you will find not only three fun dog parks but also the stunning trails at Tubbs Hill. 120 acres right in the center of town that allows leashed dogs would be considered a find all on its own, but when you add in the gorgeous views of the lake and city you get a win-win. Happy canines looking for still more hiking can also accompany their families along the 24-mile Centennial Trail, one of 1600 nationwide trails supported by the Rails-Trails Conservancy.

For dining around town many restaurants offer outdoor, and pup friendly, seating or if a day trip is on the agenda Wallace Brewing, in the nearby historic mining town of Wallace even allows dogs inside the pub to meet and greet with Elsie, the pub ambassador.

Back at camp our ideal location at the end of Lake Coeur D’Alene offers swimming for those pups in search of water sports before retiring for the evening around the campfire with their family. As always our famous free firewood creates the perfect end of a day.

The final huge plus for choosing Camp Coeur D’Alene is that dogs are not only allowed throughout the park but even in the cabins. Yep, that is right, all cabins are dog-friendly so pack up the family and come out for a visit! We look forward to greeting you soon.
