One of the things that makes camping so magical is that we are removed from the artificial light of our day-to-day existence and our body clocks can settle back into a natural rhythm. People who munch a granola bar while sitting in traffic suddenly rise with the sun and embrace the idea of a breakfast that sets the tone for the day ahead. Pancakes and eggs and bacon are hard to beat. But for this season maybe consider one of our favorite one-pot breakfast: Chilaquiles!
Here at camp, we love nothing more than days spent watching our guests enjoy themselves at camp. This year, in particular, family reunions are proving to be extremely popular and in the season ahead the campground will be filled with campers, young and old, experiencing memories that will last a lifetime.
Sure, traditional smores are delicious. We hope everyone’s childhood is filled with memories of over-charred marshmallows, melting Hershey’s chocolate, and crumbly Graham Crackers. There will always be a place for these treats. However, have you considered banana boat smores as a fun new alternative?

Camp Cooking. There is almost nothing like enjoying a meal surrounded by nature. Some days it is a joy to spend a lazy afternoon around a Dutch Oven or planning a more elaborate dinner. But, let’s be honest, many days at camp are filled with water fun, outdoor activities, sun, and perhaps day drinking and it’s great to have a few quick and delicious meals in your repertoire. Enter one of the best chicken dishes you will ever taste.
Winter is a special time of year for Camp Coeur d’Alene. While our campground and cabins enjoy a snowy hibernation period we are busy plotting and planning the year ahead. 2018 marks our third year under new ownership and exciting changes are coming. One big addition will be our newly renovated and re-imagined camp store.
Mornings at camp are magical. The air is still. The sounds of nature drift over the camp. Peace and quiet reigns supreme. While many of you, especially busy parents, would love to simply sit with your cup of coffee and take it all in breakfast still needs to be dealt with. Enter one of the tastiest, and easiest, camp breakfast we know. And the BEST part is that it works for even the pickiest eater!
Winter stillness has taken over camp and snow blankets the landscape. This season has brought record numbers of eagles to the region and locals are gathered around fireplaces dreaming of spring.
Everyone who has a Dutch Oven knows how fantastic they are. Everyone who has ever camped near someone with a Dutch Oven dreams of having one. One of our favorite things to cook in the Dutch Oven is amazing bread.
